Galvanized Pipes

When is Repiping Necessary?

Repiping is a large, complicated project to consider when improving your home. Some decide to wait until their existing piping has completely failed. However, others decide to have the project completing when they begin to show signs of failure. The first thing to figure out when considering repiping is the type of existing plumbing system is in place. Galvanized pipes are very common for failing and you should have a repipe specialist inspection if you have galvanized pipes. Galvanized pipes creates toxic water that is virtually unusable. Other than having galvanized pipes, here are a few other reasons to consider repiping:

  • Older pipes can result in multiple leaks, this can result in mold, mildew, and structural damage.
  • Poor water pressure or scalding water are frustrating. This is from a poor plumbing system.
  • Insurance generally does not provide coverage for homes with older, galvanized pipes or the damage created from leaking pipes.
  • Buying or selling a home with galvanized pipes is a bad financial decision.
