Repiping a home is the last improvement decision people want to make. Repiping is rumored to be stressful due to messes and little or no water, causing major disruption. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. Here are a few things to look for when deciding whether you need to repipe or not. You probably need new pipes if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Leaking Pipes— Sometimes you may hear water, even if there is none running. You will see actually leaking or might even have bubbling underneath your floors or walls. In extreme situations, you may even be seeing some mold or mildew.
  • Rusting Pipes—You can tell if your pipes are rusted if your water is tasting funky or appears to be discolored. If pipes are rusting, the plumbing system is well on its way to complete failure.
  • Low Water Pressure—Not always, but low water pressure could mean that the inside of your plumbing system is blocked due to corrosion.
  • High Water Bills—Obviously if your water company is telling you your usage is dramatically higher, it probably is. A surprising bill is a sign that your plumbing system is leaking.
